PsyPAG Committees

  1. Policy and Procedures
    • Examine mission statement
    • Examine objectives and how to meet them
    • Examine relationship between PsyPAG and HS PAC/ SciPAC/OSG
    • Examine and update bylaws
    • Administer elections
      • Create Standard Operating Procedure for elections
      • Conduct elections
  2. Membership
    • Maintain and update roster of psychologists to be posted to website
    • Work with Secretary and uses roster to identify psychologists not on the listserve
      • Send individual invitations to join the listserve
    • Send Welcome emails to CADs- Work with HS PAC/ SciPAC to identify new CADs
    • Announce and celebrate retirements- work with OCCO to obtain these
    • Administer Psychologist of the Year Award(subcommittee/coordinator needed)
      • Creates packets, solicits nominees, selects nominee to be confirmed by chair

    • Continuing Education credit opportunities
    • ABPP
    • OFRD-MHT/ PsyStart/Disaster Mental Health training
    • Careers for psychologists in PHS
      • Includes coordination of speakers on PsyPAG calls

  4. Recruitment & Retention
    • Work on initiatives to recruit psychologists (all types) into PHS and keep them in PHS
    • DoD Initiative of past included here
    • National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program
  5. Advocacy- Topics to pursue are
    • Professional Certifications in Direct Access
    • CEs for OFRD trainings
    • License-limited tour of duty
    • Recruitment/retention bonus/specialty pay for license
    • Humanitarian Mission and other Deployment Opportunities
    • Clinical Currency Opportunities for non-practicing licensed psychologists
  6. COF Symposium Planning
    • Obtain APA CE credits for behavioral health presentations
    • Plan social/networking event for psychologists at conference
    • Encourage psychologists to submit abstracts for Category Day and the conference as a whole
    • Create a list of behavioral health presentations at the conference prior to the meeting

PsyPAG Liaisons

  1. SciPAC
    • Serves as the liaison to the HSPAC
    • Speaks on their calls as to updates in PsyPAG
    • Brings relevant information about HSPAC to PsyPAG
    • Submits articles to quarterly Scientist Officer Newsletter
  2. HSPAC
    • Serves as the liaison to the HSPAC
    • Speaks on their calls as to updates in PsyPAG
    • Sends important PsyPAG information out over HS-PAC Weekly Announcements
    • Brings relevant information about HSPAC to PsyPAG
  3. OFRD/MHT
    • a. Serves as a liaison to OFRD and to the Mental Health Teams (MHTs)
    • Preferably someone intimately involved with OFRD and/or the MHTs (such as an MHT CPO or an MHT Team Leader or Deputy Leader)
    • Brings updates to group about deployments, roles of MHTs and roles of psychologists on deployments
    • Conveys suggestions of Advocacy Committee regarding opportunities to OFRD
  4. APA
    • Serves as a liaison to the American Psychological Association and relevant divisions such as 18 (Psychologists in Public Service), 19 (Society for Military Psychology), 55 (American Society for the Advancement of Pharmacotherapy) and 56 (Trauma Psychology)
    • Preferably someone with experience working with APA and/or its divisions
    • Can assist Professional Development committee with obtaining CEs for COF Training Symposium as well as any training occurring in OFRD training missions such as AP Hill or the upcoming Appalachia community training
  5. Website Administrator
    • Works with HSPAC web admin to update and maintain our site of important things going on in PsyPAG as well as relevant links to accomplishments of our officers and resources in the community
